Types of Membership

SDRS has three (3) classes of membership, they are:

  • Active

  • Life

  • Special:

    • Probationary

    • Administrative

    • Associate

    • Inactive

    • Junior

    • Honorary

Not all members have to run emergency calls, although we certainly encourage that activity.  Some of our members only do administrative work.  That frees the members who like to run emergency calls from some of the paperwork that goes on behind the scenes.

We have openings for people to do building and grounds maintenance, vehicle maintenance, administrative work, teaching, etc.  We welcome people that have a multitude of skills.

Requirements

  • The age requirements are 16 - 21 years of age for Junior members and 21 and above for Senior membership.

  • No SDRS member may be a member of another rescue squad in Waynesboro, Staunton, or Augusta County.

  • Each prospective member must submit an application (furnished by the squad), a Virginia State Police Criminal Record Check, and a Department of Motor Vehicles driving record.

  • Each applicant must submit to a pre-screening and interview process.

  • All prospective members must complete a six (6) month probationary period.
